This Texan learned to play the guitar by playing along with Willie Nelson’s music. He wrote his first worship song at the age of 14 and he entered into college to become a physical therapist but said that he felt that God was calling him to something else.

He has sold more then 30 million records, leads worship at many Passion events, and currently is a worship leader at Passion City Church in Atlanta, Georgia, with other known christian artist, Louie Giglio, Kristian Stanfill, Christy Nockels, and Brett Younker. He is married and a father of two.

This christian songwriter has been an active participant at the Songwriting retreat Compassionart International, which was dedicated to writing songs whose revenue support charities serving the poorest of the world’s poor. He is on the Board of Directors of CURE International, a nonprofit organization that provides medical care to children in the developing world and a member of CompassionArt, a charity based in Littlehampton, England with the aim of generating income from works of art to assist in the relief of suffering around the planet.

Often we only know a little about those God has gifted with being a singer/songwriter but it is always warming when we learn that those we have invested in their music, uses proceeds to better the lives of the poor. This in itself makes me want to tell folks about them…because he gets it.
