It is the Key to Eternal Life

The key is….Jesus, the son of God.

His willingness to come down from heaven and take the form of a man was for only one reason.  His miracles of healing, and delivering the afflicted from pain and bondage was for only one reason.  His agony and death on a cross was for only one reason.

That reason?

To take upon himself the sin of the world, my sin, your sin.

Why?

To provide a way of restoration between mankind – me – you – and God.

Why do we need to be restored?

Because of God’s holiness, sin separated mankind – me – you – from God.

What is sin?

Anything that goes against the nature of God.

What is the nature of God?

Holiness, Unconditional Love, Mercy, Grace, Forgiveness. Sinless

Why is being separated from God a big deal?

Man was made in the image of God (a trinity).  We were created as a three part being, body, soul, and spirit.  Our spirit is what communes with God.  When sin entered the world, it caused not only our physical death but also our spiritual death. Setting in motion our eternal separation from God and condemns our soul to hell.  Psalm 9:17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.

What did Jesus’ death do?

His life was offered as a sacrifice for our sin.  He took our punishment and offers through his death an opportunity for us to be restored unto God. A spiritual rebirth.

Why would Jesus do this?

Love, because God so loved the world that He gave His only son, that who ever believes in Him will not parish but have eternal life.

Hell was not created to hold God’s creation of mankind.  Hell was not intended for man to inhabit.  It is a placed designed to contained the wicked – fallen angels – Satan, the deceiver.  They are eternal beings and Hell is their containment place.   Sadly, when sin entered the world, it placed man into the arena of the wicked, causing man to have the same plight in destination – hell.

God doesn’t want mankind – you – me there, and has provided a way of escape – through His atonement, which is in His son Jesus. who took on our punishment…willingly. It is a gift, we can not earn it, all we need to do is accept it and repent.

What does it mean to repent?

To admit that you are sinner, ask God to forgive you, turn away from your sin and accept the sacrifice of Jesus who paid for your sins.

The Key to eternal life – Jesus

That is why Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.  No one may come unto the Father except through him.

Romans 5

Peace with God Through Faith

For while we were still sinners, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

Death in Adam, Life in Christ

Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned—  for sin indeed was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not counted where there is no law. Yet death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sinning was not like the transgression of Adam, who was a type of the one who was to come.

But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if many died through one man’s trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift by the grace of that one man Jesus Christ abounded for many. And the free gift is not like the result of that one man’s sin. For the judgment following one trespass brought condemnation, but the free gift following many trespasses brought justification.

For if, because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.

Therefore, as one trespassed to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men. For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous. Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more,  so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

  • Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

John 3:6

  • That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

John 3:7

  • Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’

John 5:24

  • Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.

John 14:6

  • Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
